David Seaman has backed Arsenal to come away with a 2-1 victory against bitter rivals Tottenham in Sunday’s north London derby.
Mikel Arteta’s side are in desperate need of three points after dropping down to 14th place in the table.
Last month, the Gunners beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League for the first time in 14 years, but since then their season has taken a turn for the worse.
Home defeats to Aston Villa and Wolves, as well as a 0-0 draw with Leeds United at Elland Road, have left Arsenal devoid of confidence.
Spurs, however, go into this weekend’s derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in red-hot form. Jose Mourinho’s side top of the Premier League table, level on points with last year’s champions Liverpool.
But speaking exclusively on the new Target Men Podcast, Gunners legend Seaman tipped his former side to earn a hard-fought victory over their north London rivals.
‘The game with Spurs is going to be tough,’ Seaman said. ‘I can’t see us keeping a clean sheet, but I do think we can nick a 2-1 win.
‘They [Spurs] are a good unit and they’ve got a great mix of players, especially with their strike force in [Harry] Kane and [Heung-Min] Son and now with [Gareth] Bale there as well.
‘It’s going to be a tough ask for an Arsenal team going there with no confidence.
‘But with Arsenal, you don’t know what you’re going to get and all I can think of is going to Man United and beating them 1-0 again.’
Before the north London derby, Arteta’s side face Rapid Vienna in their penultimate Europa League group game.
The Gunners have already qualified for the knockout stages of the competition, but can secure top spot in Group B if they avoid defeat on Thursday night.
